Komatsu Tadashi is a more or less normal high school-boy who has quite a common-sounding problem for his age; what is his purpose? What should he do? Why does the normal way of living sound so frustrating to him?
One day he manages to get himself into a fight, the arrogant brat he is, and is nearly beaten to death until an uniform-wearing boy with cold eyes appears to save his life. From the boy, Kohaku, Tadashi learns about a pretty much underground criminal organization called Ivories which rescues people from accidents and violence, demanding a large price for the deed right after. If the person rescued refuses to pay, he is killed. Tadashi realizes he too must give something in turn and sees an opportunity to seek further for the meaning of his life, thus offering his own freedom and joining Ivories.

Tadashi is put into Kohaku's squad and it isn't long until they've got their first mission ahead, but as Tadashi is ordered to kill the uncooperative victim his mind is hit by a wave of regret and realization. He refuses, running as far away as he can, and at that moment he decides his goal in life: destroy Ivories, kill their leaders, throw such lowly creatures right into the deepest pits of hell. With enthrallment burning inside him he somehow manages to convince his squad to join him and begin the long, long, painful path towards the more kind and righteous world.. but everything turns out to be a lot more complicated than it at first seemed through the eyes of an young rebel. Just what really is Ivories, let alone its boss? How are all the sides tied together? Is this all really so black and white?
